Beijing, May 28, 2001
Dear friends, here I am in Beijing!!
It is hard to believe that I was last here 15 years
ago with the Pavarotti competition. So much has changed here. Everything
is very modern.
I'm so looking forward to singing with Placido again,
and to singing for these wonderful warm people.
All the best to you and lots of love, Kallen

Memphis, May 10
Hi everyone, it is May in Memphis! My favorite time of
year to be home.
Barbecue, Blues, Baseball, and of course Elvis!
We are having a great springtime. I just returned from
a week of study in New York. Great to work and to see friends there.
John is playing baseball and soccer so there are many
games to attend, which Tom and I love.
All the best and Happy Springtime!

Los Angeles, April 23
Hi everyone from Los Angeles.
I am so very honored to be here to sing the
Verdi Requiem. Perhaps it will never mean as much to me as it does at this
time.
My grandfather Kalost Esperian escaped from the Armenian genocide as a
young man. However, there were so very many Armenians that did not escape. So
many that suffered and died.
I sing to their memory, to their strength, and
to their great faith unending.
Love to you, Kallen

Athens, February 27
Hello, everybody! Greetings from sunny Greece. All is well
here. I'm hard at work on Il Corsaro. As soon as things settle down, I'll
take in the many sights. What an adventure!! Whew!
Right now I'm dealing with major jet lag and new part syndrome. Help!
All the best and lots of love to you,
Kallen
